My take on Neurotribes

Recently, the New York Times published a list of the top 100 books of the 21st century even though we’re only in the 25th year. Still, I was curious if I had encountered any. So far, the only one which I had read was far from the tree by Andrew Solmon.

Fortunately, the list included suggestions for those who had already read each of the items, and the one that got my attention was Neurotribes by Steve Silberman. It arrived from the library and it took about a month to complete as it is not only a comprehensive look at the history of neurodiversity over the last 150 years, it is also deeply researched with many anecdotes and stories that covered science, film, and political advocacy and confrontation.

I was impressed by the level of detail and the amount of information covered, just like I was when I read far from the tree. Tree. There is so much that has been going on in this area, and I am overwhelmed off and as I try to connect this area with my research and accessible computing in universal design.

I recommend the book, but I recommend giving yourself enough time, and please feel invited to reply here, I would be happy to have a conversation.
